CLERK/CASHIER RECEPTIONIST

Casual On-Call

 

The District of Vanderhoof is seeking a team-oriented, self-motivated, customer service professional to provide clerical and customer service support on an as needed basis.   As a Clerk/Cashier Receptionist, you will:

  • Provide frontline reception services, answering visitor inquiries regarding the community and Vanderhoof’s history, as well as responding to inquiries by telephone and by email
  • Greet and assist visitors at the Vanderhoof Tourism & Cultural Centre (VTCC) and direct inquiries to appropriate staff or departments
  • Receive, process, and post payments including consignment sales, facility bookings, cancelations, and refunds
  • Stock, maintain, and distribute promotional materials
  • Encourage visitors to explore and celebrate Vanderhoof
  • Provide support for special projects, initiatives, and District events as required
  • Provide general administrative support for other departments, when needed
  • Assignments will vary in duration depending on projects and coverage needs

 

Exceptional customer service skills; the ability to prepare correspondence, quickly accurately, and professionally; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; knowledge and experience in office procedures, filing systems and cash handling skills are essential in this position, along with the flexibility to work varied shifts (days, evenings, and weekends). 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A one-year certificate program such as office administration or business administration;
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience working in tourism is preferred;
  • Experience working in municipal government environment is preferred;
  • Strong customer service skills are required; and
  • A clear police information search and vulnerable sector check (not required at time of application).

 

This is a casual unionized on-call position, schedule to work varying hours and shifts at a pay rate of $31.69 per hour (2024 rate).
